Every style of furniture was contemporary in its day. Some pieces have endured and become iconic, while others have faded into obscurity. I build furniture in that spirit of natural evolution, with one foot in tradition and the other in the tastes of a twenty-first century collector.
My designs are rooted in a respect for the native hardwoods I use and an adherence to the sound construction techniques that allow today’s studio piece to become tomorrow’s heirloom.
I alternate between building bespoke commissions for individual clients, and designing original pieces influenced by the English and American arts and crafts, contemporary, Japanese, and Shaker traditions.
Each piece of furniture begins as a conversation. Together we create a concept, maybe build a model or two, and in a few weeks this idea becomes a unique part of your home.
